Armed with inspirational lyrics and world class musicianship, NEWWORLDSON rescues soul music from being a mere genre and returns the art form to its sacred roots.

Singer Joel Parisien says "if you trace back the roots of 'roots' music, of 'soul' music, of 'folk' music, it's about folks; it's social music. We hope our fans become our family. We hope they leave our shows feeling inspired. Our ministry is about uplifting people."

With the force of an orchestra, Josh Toal (guitar, vocals), Rich Moore (bass, vocals), Mark Rogers (drums) and Parisien (vocals, keys) come together to form a revolutionary four-piece gospel combo.

Once the prize of European explorers, America, or the “New World” from which the band derives its name, is a veritable musical treasure chest. The lineage of popular music, like a tree rooted in gospel and the blues, has had its branches plucked clean by these modern pioneers. But baskets of funk, soul and swing feed only the body; the real nourishment is in their lyrics.

Far from being veiled in cryptic metaphor, Newworldson’s message of hope and redemption is impossible to miss. Take for example the chorus from their single “Working Man”:
“I am a working man, I get things done.
Work for the Holy Ghost, work for the Son.
I am a working man, oh yes I am;
I am a special agent of the Lamb.”

Individually, each member began his professional career entertaining mainstream music fans in clubs and concert halls around the world. It was in this setting where they learned to be bold in their faith, unapologetically invoking the presence of the Holy Spirit in these most unlikely places.

Since those early days, their profile has skyrocketed. After signing with Nashville based Inpop records, Newworldson was invited to open up the newsboys’ hugely successful Go tour (Fall ’07 – Spring ’08), showcasing their unique, kinetic style of praise and worship to thousands of Christian music fans across North America. And like their live show, their debut 11-song CD “Salvation Station” (scheduled for release in February ’08) also mixes motion and devotion.

With skills honed in the trenches, these special agents are pushing back the darkness and answering God’s call to recruit souls for His Kingdom. Their blend of pop, soul, jazz and gospel is unlike anything going on in popular music today.

Four sons of the New World, and their story has just begun.
